Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to be flexible or fit to start?
- No. This is truly for beginners. Classes are short (5 minutes), slow, and fully supported with options for chair, wall, and props. We focus on gentle movement and breath, not touching your toes. Your only job is to show up and move in a way that feels kind to your body.
- Is this safe if I have stiffness, arthritis, or menopausal symptoms?
- Yes, gently and safely. We use low-impact, joint-friendly movements, with short holds and lots of support to reduce strain.
- What if I can’t kneel, get on the floor, or have wrist/knee issues?
- You’ll get chair-based alternatives for everything. We protect wrists with fists, forearms, or a higher surface (table/chair), and cushion knees with a folded blanket or skip kneeling entirely. You can complete the entire series seated or standing and still receive the benefits.
- How much time will this take and when will I notice benefits?
- Plan for 10–15 minutes a day (or every other day). Many women notice less stiffness, better mood, and easier sleepwithin 1–2 weeks. Deeper changes like mobility and balance, build steadily with consistency. Progress is personal; we celebrate every small win.
- What equipment do I need?
- Just the basics you likely already have: A sturdy chair, a blanket, and a cushion/pillow - Optional: blocks (or two sturdy books) - A mat or towel for grip (optional). Comfy clothes, bare feet or grippy socks, and a bit of clear floor space are perfect.
- Can yoga help with hot flashes, stress, and sleep?
- Many women report that breathwork and restorative postures help them cool down, de-stress, and unwind before bed. We’ll use longer exhales, legs up the chair/wall, and soothing breath practices to calm the nervous system. While results vary, these tools are gentle, effective, and easy to repeat.
- How do I tell the difference between a good stretch and harmful pain?
- Use the “4–6 out of 10” comfort zone for sensation, never push to sharp, pinching, burning, or numbness. If anything feels unstable or sharp, come out and try the supported option. Mild next-day muscle soreness can be normal; joint pain is a signal to modify or skip. Your body’s feedback leads the way.
- What if I experience cramp in my muscles?
- This can be normal for muscles that are fatigued or which have not been exercised in a while. Take breaks and allow it to pass and ensure you are well hydrated.
- I’m worried about balance, what if I fall?
- Safety first. We practice near a chair, wall, or countertop, and build balance gradually with toe-down options and short holds. Wobbles are normal and part of training your body. Quick safety check: clear the floor, adjust lighting, and wear bare feet or grippy socks.
